Where can I find ideas for my science fair project?

LEVEL: Intermediate

Wellington City Libraries' Kids Catalogue Web has some great general websites on science fairs.

Navigate your way to the Kids Catalogue from the homepage.

  1. Click on Catalogue Search.
  2. Click on Try our Kid Friendly Catalogue.
  3. Then choose the remote option of the catalogue.

To find info on science fairs follow this pathway:

  1. Click on Explore.
  2. Click on Science.
  3. Click on Science Experiments.
  4. Click on Science Fair Projects.
  5. Click on the icon with a spider sitting on a web (it has the words see web pages).
  6. Now you can click on any of the links to websites about science fair projects

For more information, try the links from the Yahoo Kids Science & Nature site. We like this site because it links to student-friendly websites.

You can also try a Google search using the keywords "science fairs" or "science fair projects". You will find a lot of science fair websites with lots of different ideas! But remember that anyone can set up a website, so it would be good to talk to your science teacher about ideas you find before getting started.

HOT TIP: If you have chosen a subject area for your project, you might be able to find a website that has science fair ideas for that area. For example, NIWA has ideas for science fair projects about the weather. NIWA is a crown-owned research company, so the information there is very reliable.

Thank you very much (:
