Where can I find information about protecting New Zealand from animal pests?

Level: Intermediate / Secondary

One of the best websites for this information is Biosecurity New Zealand compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries. There's a lot of info on this site and it can be a bit tricky to navigate. For animal pests the best place to start is by clicking on the black link with yellow writing (on right-hand side near top of homepage) that says Pests & Diseases. From here you can either search by the pest name (e.g. painted apple moth) or you can scroll down the full list of animal and plant pests and click on the one you want for more info.

It's well worth checking out the Landcare Research page on Animal Pests too. They also have a Kids section on pests called Stowaways Kids' Pages

HOT TIP: For more information on pest animals (or plants) contact your local council (or check your local council website). Most local authorities have pamphlets and website factsheets on pests.
